----------------------- Important Information - Fountain Grass -----------------------

A number of residents have received letters instructing them to remove fountain grass from their front yards. This is not a new restriction as fountain grass has always been identified as a prohibited plant in our guidelines. This is also an Oro Valley and County-wide restriction due to the natural threat to the Sonoran Desert imposed by the potential spread of these grasses. There is a flyer published by the University of Arizona Desert Laboratory which explains the nature of this threat. Clickhere for more information.

----------------------- Waste Management Schedule -----------------------

Our pick-up day for trash and recycled materials are on Friday of each week.  On weeks with a National holiday, we will have pick-up on Saturday.

The recycling container should only be placed on the curb when full, there is no need to put it out every week.  Waste Management will exchange the large containers for smaller ones if space is a problem. Please contact Waste Management Customer Service at (520) 744-2600 for more information.

If the reduction to one pickup per week is not enough to handle your trash volume, a second 96 gallon trash container is available from Waste Management at a cost of 8 dollars per month.  This extra fee will be paid quarterly by the homeowner directly to Waste Management and is separate from your normal assessment.  Please contact Waste Management Customer Service at (520) 744-2600 for more information.

Please keep in mind that the Architectural Guidelines regarding placement and concealment of trash containers still apply.

----------------------- Tree Removal -----------------------

In the past few some trees have been removed from the common area along Monterra Vista Drive.  One of the trees was leaning over the sidewalk and posed a potential for head injury.  Two other trees were removed because their roots were lifting the sidewalk and were causing a trip hazard.  Two sidewalk sections had to be replaced  at a cost of $400.00.

It is expected that with time it will be necessary to remove more trees.  The problem is due to the fact that some trees were planted too close to the sidewalk.  In some cases they are as close as 16 inches.  While the trees are young this is not a problem but as the tree grows its root system can extend outward for a distance equal to the height of the tree and that creates problems with the sidewalks.  The board is trying to save as many trees as possible.  As the cost of removal is related to the size of the tree the board is watching this situation closely to avoid waiting until the sidewalks need replacement and the tree size has doubled.  If you see a tree that is causing an issue with the sidewalk please notify the Management Company or any board member
